Spruce comes under the softwood category which grows very fast and considered durable. The color of the spruce is yellowish-white to reddish-white and sometimes yellow-brown. The wood is light in weight, soft and very elastic. Spruce dries quickly but hardly any cracks form. Spruce wood is most commonly used as construction timber because of it's good bearing capacity. Pine is also termed as red spruce.
